My name is Chris Wailes and I am a Ph.D. candidate at Indiana University working with Jeremy Siek. My research involves reducing communication costs in parallel applications with the goal of increasing program performance. This is generally referred to as topologically-aware load balancing. Other work that I have done at Indiana University, University of Colorado-Boulder, and Google has focused on compiler analysis and optimizations. I’ve contributed code to the Chapel, Clang, and RenderScript compilers. More generally, I am interested in programming languages, compiler design, scientific computing, and parallel programming.
